​Dr. Winters is also the owner and clinical director of Hope Clinic in Bellevue and Silverdale, Washington, where he leads the clinic’s clinical and operational work following his acquisition of the practice after the passing of Dr. Theodore Kadet. His clinical work focuses on developmental vision, binocular vision disorders, neuro-visual rehabilitation, vision-related learning problems, and the role vision plays in functional performance and quality of life.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Winters has built and led multiple vision therapy practices. He previously owned and served as president and clinical director of Washington Vision Therapy Center in Yakima, Washington, where he helped grow the clinic and oversaw the development of satellite clinics in Spokane and the Tri-Cities. His experience as both a clinician and practice owner has shaped much of his work with Emergent, where he helps other doctors and teams build stronger, more sustainable vision therapy programs.

Dr. Winters has lectured extensively on developmental optometry, binocular vision, vision therapy, neuro-visual rehabilitation, billing and coding, and vision therapy practice management. He has given more than 100 lectures to professional organizations, educators, clinical teams, parent groups, and community organizations. His notable presentations include lectures for the European Council of Optometry and Optics in Ljubljana, Slovenia; the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association; the Optometric Physicians of Washington; the University of Washington Bothell; Heritage University; the Washington State House of Representatives; and multiple continuing education programs for optometrists and vision therapists.

Through Emergent VT, Dr. Winters developed Vision Therapy Basics, also known as VT 101, a foundational online course for doctors and vision therapists that has been taken by more than 1,000 students across more than 20 countries. He also developed Advanced Vision Therapy, or VT 201, an online course designed to provide deeper clinical training in the practice of vision therapy. His teaching style is known for making complex clinical concepts practical, understandable, and immediately useful in the day-to-day life of a vision therapy clinic.

Dr. Winters is board-certified in neuro-visual rehabilitation, vision therapy, and vision development through the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association. He has also served in professional leadership roles, including chair of the Insurance Committee for the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, president of the Yakima Valley Optometric Society, chair of the Website Committee for the Optometric Physicians of Washington, and member of the Children’s Vision Task Force for the Optometric Physicians of Washington and the American Optometric Association.

In addition to his clinical and educational work, Dr. Winters founded Building Vision, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of life-altering binocular vision problems in children. Through Building Vision, he helped raise more than $250,000 for children who could not afford treatment and supported vision screenings for nearly 1,000 children in the Yakima area.

Dr. Winters’ professional honors include winning the 2012 Yakima Washington New Vision Enterprise Challenge, receiving the Best in Class Practice Management Excellence Award from Marchon, receiving a Best in Class Vision Therapy Award, being named one of the top 10 clinicians in his class, receiving the Dr. Seymour Galina Grant from the AOAF-SEC Endowment Fund, and earning a Scholastic and Leadership Scholarship at Southern College of Optometry.

Dr. Winters earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry and completed his undergraduate degree in Business Management and Pre-Optometry at Brigham Young University. He is fluent in Spanish and brings a combination of clinical experience, business training, and entrepreneurial problem-solving to his work.
